Following the signing, Milosavljevic underlined that the Japanese government approved this non-refundable aid for the “Improvement of Screening and Breast Cancer Prevention in Serbia” project.
He said that the project, to be realised during the course of 2011, will include the procurement of two digital and 30 analogue mammography apparatuses to include all ancillary equipment.
Tsunozaki declared that the goal of the project is to reduce the incidence of breast cancer and increase the availability of early diagnostic procedures for women.
He noted that 39 health institutions in Serbia will receive state-of-the-art equipment to improve screening, early detection and diagnoses of breast cancer.
The Japanese Ambassador recalled that Japan’s total aid to Serbia amounts to €204 million, of which around €22 million has been set aside for the medical sector.
