During a tour of the flooded area, Dacic emphasised that at the moment the most important task is to save lives and to provide food and medicines to those in need, adding that water levels are expected to drop over the next two days.
It is necessary to form a record of areas in the country most vulnerable to natural disasters in order to take timely action, he stressed.
At its session today the government decided to allocate funds for helping flood victims, Dacic announced.
He highlighted the importance of the new Law on emergency situations which will determine jurisdiction in cases of natural disasters, adding that the job of the department for emergency situations is not to build embankments and clean canals but to save lives and property.
Assistant Minister of Interior and head of the department for emergency situations Predrag Maric said that Poljane and surrounding areas have been hardest hit by the flooding in the country.
Dacic and Maric confirmed that they are satisfied with the cooperation with the municipality of Obrenovac for damage relief and aid to victims.
