Serbia equipped to attract technological investment

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic stated today during his visit to Silicon Valley in the United States that Serbia is equipped to attract technological investment.
Djelic emphasised that amidst tough global competition for attracting technological investment Serbia has all the necessary elements such as a highly qualified workforce in the areas of engineering and science, clear priorities in the field of science and technology and funds for investing in major infrastructure projects.
The role of Serbian communities abroad is very important regarding scientific and technological cooperation, as they can help establish direct links with businesses and leading scientific institutes, he observed.
During his visit, Djelic met with Nikola Bozinovic and Radoje Drmanac who work in successful IT companies in Silicon Valley. He talked with them about ways of encouraging similar enterprises in Serbia and creating jobs for engineers and scientists in the IT sector.
Djelic also met with the leadership of multinationals Hewlett Packard, Intel, Cisco Systems, Oracle and Nokia, to discuss their further engagement in Serbia, especially in the fields of science and technology.
He also visited the prestigious US universities of Stanford and Berkeley where he spoke with professors and students from Serbia who work there.
