Snezana Klasnja
At a joint press conference of the representatives of the Fund for Young Talent, Pexim Foundation for scholarships for students from Serbia and Macedonia at the University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Overseas Trust, Klasnja stated that one of the goals of this strategy is to provide support to young students with exquisite achievements in their further professional development.
She underlined that the Fund for young talent started functioning as part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in August 2008. Since then, the fund has announced seven competitions and has provided scholarships for more than 2,300 young talented people.
She specified that the scholarship holders were students who finished graduate studies in Serbia, those who attended master and doctoral studies abroad, as well as high school students who achieved significant results in competitions.
A total of €8 million was allocated to the Fund for Young Talent during the last two years, highlighted Klasnja, adding that the Fund has made a step forward by providing support to young people in career development.
Michael O'Sullivan
Director of the Pexim Foundation Mihail Petreski emphasised that the Foundation was established to provide scholarships to students from Serbia and Macedonia who are eligible to study at Cambridge but do not have the means to do so.
Direct scholarships from the Pexim Foundation help students continue their studies, Petreski confirmed.
Director of the Cambridge Overseas Trust Michael O'Sullivan pointed out that Cambridge University welcomes young, talented and motivated people regardless of where they are from, adding that 5,000 of a total of 18,000 students at the University are from abroad.
The Cambridge Trust establishes partnerships with other funds, major companies and NGOs in order to share expenses for providing scholarships to foreign students, he explained.
