Djelic discusses judicial reforms with Reding

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic met with EU Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship Viviane Reding this evening in Brussels. They discussed further cooperation concerning judicial reforms in Serbia.
In a statement to Tanjug news agency, Djelic said that the work plan of a joint group of the Serbian Justice Ministry and European Commission is developing well and that it will be examined at a meeting to be held at the beginning of July in Belgrade.
He stated that he talked with Reding about the importance of judicial reforms for Serbia and told her that positive results have been achieved after the very first steps in the reform process, making it possible to handout severe sentences to those guilty of serious and violent crime such as rape.
This meeting with the EU Commissioner for Justice shows that our EU integration process is going ahead. This is encouraging after the good news from 14 June, concerning the beginning of the ratification of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, stressed Djelic.
