Belgrade Police Administration receives new equipment

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic took over a donation from Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas for the Belgrade Police Administration consisting of five off-road and 30 passenger vehicles.

On this occasion, Dacic called on other cities in Serbia to support their police administrations as well.
He explained that these vehicles and equipment will be used by police brigades and intervention units in Belgrade and added that a part of the equipment will be given to the criminal and traffic police units and to the Directorate for protection and rescue of the river police.
Dacic underlined that Belgrade needs a modern police force and that funds from donations should be invested into a system of video surveillance for controlling traffic and recognising faces from arrest warrants, as done by many world metropolises.
Dacic reiterated that the aim of the police is to be a service for citizens and for solving their problems, giving as an example the efforts of the Ministry of the Interior to increase the number of checkpoints where citizens can get new passports and IDs.
Djilas said that it is in the interest of all citizens that Belgrade is safe, noting that this will happen when parliament adopts a law on the prohibition of the sale of alcohol to minors and when community police commence working.
He specified that today’s donation, apart from the five off-road and 30 passenger vehicles, also included halligan bars, detectors and 30 alcometers.
