Possible cooperation in science, technology between Serbia, France

Deputy Prime Minister for EU integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic met with French Minister for Higher Education and Research Valérie Pécresse yesterday in Paris to discuss ways to step up cooperation in science and technology.
Djelic told the Tanjug news agency that during the meeting they paid special attention to cooperation in humanities, physics and biomedicine.
He stated that they agreed that a French delegation should pay a visit to Serbia over the next few weeks to look at possibilities for cooperation in agriculture, energy, information technology and biomedicine.
The visit will serve as a basis for Minister Pécresse’s visit to Belgrade next year when certain domains of cooperation between the two countries may be specified in more concrete detail, the Minister noted.
Djelic underlined the importance of Serbia’s advancing bilateral relations in terms of science and technology with France, a country that invests €40 billion in science every year, which is 400 times more than is the case in Serbia.
He also explained that France is one of the most powerful countries in the world when it comes to science and technology and has a considerable number of Nobel Prize winners in the high technology sector.
