Serbia, Spain sign programme for scientific, technological cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister for EU integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic and Spanish Minister of Science and Innovations Cristina Garmendia Mendizábal signed a programme for scientific and technological cooperation between their countries today in Madrid.
Djelic, who is on a working visit to Spain, explained in a statement to the Tanjug news agency that this is the first such agreement between Serbia and Spain, noting that it will focus on four main sectors, agriculture, biomedicine, materials and information technology.
The Deputy Prime Minister called upon the scientific community in Serbia to propose projects from these four domains, which the relevant ministry will endorse.
Following the signing, Djelic visited some of the leading scientific institutes in Madrid.
He also stated that they reached agreement on cooperation with the Spanish Centre for Materials and the National Centre for Biomedicine, one of the most successful institutions of its kind in the world.
