Dacic, Cvetanov sign agreement on cooperation between interior ministries

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today in Sofia that Serbia and Bulgaria have common problems with regional and international criminal groups and that they can successfully fight them only through cooperation.
Dacic signed an agreement on cooperation between the two interior ministries with his counterpart Cvetan Cvetanov in Sofia today.
Our cooperation has been good so far, but this agreement gives an institutional framework for it to be even better, Dacic said.
Serbia and Bulgaria are located on the Balkan road of heroin and the two countries’ criminals are actively smuggling cocaine from South America, cigarettes, excise goods, stolen cars, forging money and payment cards and this is why we must cooperate, Dacic told the hosts.
Dacic said that Serbia has recently started a big campaign against paedophilia and child pornography.
After expressing gratitude to Cvetanov for the support which Bulgaria has given to Serbia in the process of European integration, Dacic said that the common goal of European states is to minimise procedures at border crossings.
The decision by the United States to extend the validity period of visas for certain categories of Serbian citizens for up to ten years is a major step forward in relations between Belgrade and Washington, said Dacic.
Cvetanov said that he agrees with Dacic that a firm fight must be put up against organised crime.
Bulgaria will continue to support Serbia on its path to the EU, said Cvetanov.
