At a joint press conference, Djelic said that Serbia supports Montenegro’s EU membership and the European Commission’s opinion on Montenegro’s candidacy, which will be announced in autumn.
He also added that Serbia hopes Montenegro will be granted candidate status soon, possibly even before the end of the year.
He said that Montenegro’s success will have a positive effect on Serbia, as well as on further improvement of their bilateral relations.
Djelic said that he accepted the invitation from the Montenegrin Minister to attend a seminar on European integration, when a bilateral agreement in the fields of science and technology should be signed.
Djurovic said that the two governments have very good cooperation related to European integration and that today’s meeting improved the already good relations between Belgrade and Podgorica.
I accepted the invitation to come to Belgrade with pleasure, so that we could together prepare better for new challenges that are ahead of us in the field of European integration, Djurovic said.
Djelic and Djurovic also looked at bilateral projects financed from the EU budget, worth €2 million, which should improve the everyday lives of citizens of Serbia and Montenegro. They examined possibilities for cooperation in the translation of European legislation as well.
