Djelic told Tanjug news agency that he presented what Serbia has done in the last two years and he also asked the Bundestag to support the idea for the June meeting of EU ministers to start with the ratification of the Agreement on Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia.
He expressed the hope that in that same session, or shortly after it, support will be obtained for submitting nominations for Serbia’s EU membership to the European Commission.
He said he reaffirmed Serbia’s readiness to help in the fight against organised crime and to cooperate in the field of infrastructure, science, technology and investment.
Speaking on the issue of Kosovo-Metohija, Djelic said that, even though the official policy of Germany has not changed, the MPs of all political parties asked questions about a possible final solution to the problem of the province, which implies that they also respect the interests of Belgrade.
We received some encouraging messages from German MPs that this situation is not sustainable and extra effort will be needed to come up with a sustainable solution for Kosovo-Metohija, which is surely in the interests of our country and is not possible to achieve without Belgrade, Djelic concluded.
