Djelic stressed at the annual conference of cross-border cooperation "From CARDS to IPA" that this does not only apply to municipalities on the Danube, but also to the municipalities that are part of the river basin.
He said that applications for these programmes show that Serbia is a serious country, and reminds people of our active participation in the development of a comprehensive EU strategy for the Danube region.
Djelic reiterated that Serbia should use the Danube’s potential better, since 588 kilometres of this river pass through Serbia.
He also conferred awards upon holders of 10 projects that have been part of the cross-border cooperation since 2005. A total of 200 projects of cross-border cooperation have been implemented in Serbia, supported by the EU with €15.6 million.
