Serbia successfully implementing programme with IMF

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic said today that during the talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington the Serbian delegation concluded that the existing programme with this organisation is at a satisfactory level, adding that it will be continued in the future.
Djelic told Tanjug news agency, following a two-day session of the World Bank and IMF in Washington, that difficult negotiations are ahead in the second half of May, but that Serbia will this time find solutions and continue with the successful implementation of this programme.
He said that the Serbian government delegation ended a visit to Washington by meeting with IMF Director General Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
The Serbian delegation presented the IMF with what has been done in the first quarter of 2010, in advance of the arrival of the IMF Mission to Serbia in May.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that last week’s resolution passed by the United States Senate acknowledging Serbia’s efforts to integrate into Europe and the global community was proposed by a group of very prominent senators.
The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Minister of Science and Technology, said that also very important was the signing of a scientific-technological cooperation with the United States, the implementation of which has already begun through meetings with the director of the US National Science Foundation and representatives of the National Academy of Medicine and Engineering.
He expressed the hope that members of the scientific community will now get visas for the United States more easily.
