First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said that his Ministry formed a special working group to implement the Strategy for Improving the Position of the Roma, tasked with proposing priority measures and activities envisaged by the 2010 action plan for this Strategy, drafted for the period 2009–2011.
Speaking at a roundtable discussion “Sustainable Solutions to Displaced Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians and Policies for Improving and Reintegrating the Roma Repatriated to Serbia”, Dacic stressed that social inclusion of the Roma and improvement of their position is one of the government’s priorities.
The vision of a European Serbia is a vision of Serbia as a country responsible towards its citizens, a guarantor of stability in the region, a country that cooperates with its neighbours to ensure security, a country whose institutions keep up with the times we live in, the Minister said.
Bearing this in mind, we must continue with the broadest dialogue in our society in order to shape our vision of a European Serbia, to have understanding for each other in a society faced with an economic crisis and find ways to help each other, he added.
The roundtable discussion was organised in cooperation with the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
