Kovacevic told the press conference that television still occupies the top position as the most popular source of information.
She said that the research showed that young people list unemployment and the unavailability of information as their greatest problems.
One of the National Youth Strategy’s goals is to provide this section of the population with comprehensive information. The portal aims to provide just that, ie reliable and quality information about the areas in which this section of the population is interested.
Advisor at the Ministry of Youth and Sport Jelena Knezevic said that by using this portal, young people will be able to get acquainted with topical issues and gain information about educational courses, seminars and job competitions.
She added that the portal will allow them to communicate with other users, search the contents of the portal, view the events calendar, as well as engage in international cooperation in youth policy, take part in competitions announced by the Fund for Young Talents, the Career Guidance Centre and similar matters.
The role of the portal is to bring together individuals, organisations and institutions in order to actively engage the young in all aspects of social life.
Assistant to the Director of the National Information Technology and Internet Agency Marko Mandic said that the internet and modern technologies are a necessity today, adding that young people increasingly seek information and new friendships via this medium.
The portal is the state’s response to new technologies and the opportunities the internet offers, Mandic said announcing that another portal will soon be put into use on which citizens will be able to communicate with the state and ask for electronic public services from organs of public administration.
The Imagine Life portal was built by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society and the National Information Technology and Internet Agency.
