Ministry of Culture continuously working on improving position of Roma in Serbia

Belgrade, 8 April 2010

The Ministry of Culture announced today that it is continuously carrying out activities to improve the position of the Roma population in Serbia.

A statement issued on the occasion of 8 April, International Day of Roma, states that under the auspices of the Ministry, an exhibition will be organised tonight at the Museum of Roma which will last until 5 May.

This year the Ministry plans to co-finance the musical and theatrical work "Invisible Gypsy" performed by the Intercultural Theatre in Novi Sad.

The play will be performed in May at an international festival in Prague under the patronage of the Czech Minister for Human and Minority Rights and the Mayor of Prague.

The Ministry plans to back the projects and programmes in the Romany language as well as those for improvement of work for Roma representatives in the public media.
