Bradic proposes formation of Culture Ministry, SPC coordinating body

Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic has proposed the formation of a joint coordinating body consisting of representatives of the Ministry’s committee for the preservation of cultural property and the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC).
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, Bradic has made this recommendation in order to establish more efficient communication.
Problems related to the protection of sacred architecture are mainly rooted in the past and they can be resolved by taking into account the modern needs of the Church and a new concept of the preservation of heritage.
The Ministry’s committee for the preservation of cultural property held a meeting on 1 April, at which it was noted that a strategy for the preservation and mapping of cultural and religious heritage sites in the country and the region is required.
