Presenting the “Financial Education in Serbian Secondary Schools of Economics” project, Obradovic said that it will be implemented in 38 towns. Experts from ProCredit Bank will hold lectures to around 2,500 students.
The project, implemented by the German Organisation for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and ProCredit Bank, with the Ministry of Education’s support, is in line with the reform of high school education in Serbia, whose goal is to enable practical experience for students.
The Minister stressed that the reform also implies the education of teachers who must adopt a modern educational system.
German Ambassador to Serbia Wolfram Maas said that on its path to the EU Serbia has to build a modern and competitive economy, for which it needs a well-educated workforce.
He said that this is why secondary education in Serbia must be adapted to respond to the needs of a modern economy, adding that the financial education project is very useful since it will give students an opportunity to study measures for mitigating the global crisis and help them to understand banking.
Also present at the conference was Gustav Raier, the leader of the GTZ’s “Reform of Secondary Vocational Education” project and president of the ProCredit Bank executive board Svetlana Tomalceva.
