Dacic meets with SOCA officials

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic met with Director General of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) William Hughes and SOCA head Ian Andrews.

Today in London Dacic also met with British Home Secretary Alan Johnson.
Hughes expressed satisfaction with SOCA’s cooperation with the Serbian Interior Ministry, noting that it made a series of successful operations in cooperation with SOCA.
These operations resulted in the uncovering and arrest of organised criminal groups responsible for drug trafficking, cyber crime, money laundering and other serious crimes, he said.
Hughes stressed that cooperation to date has produced very good results in the fight against organised crime, not only in the region but globally as well.
The information provided by the Serbian police to the British and other authorities led to the confiscation of large amounts of drugs all over the world, he said.

Dacic and Hughes signed a Memorandum of Understanding between SOCA and the Ministry of the Interior about combating transnational crime and developing police cooperation to fight illegal drug trading, illegal migration, money laundering, illegal weapons trading, hi-tech crime and fraud.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Johnson also signed a protocol on readmission and contemplated the possibility of abolishing British visas for Serbian citizens.
Johnson said he is pleased with the cooperation between the British and Serbian police forces, reiterating that organised crime is a threat to the security of their countries and the entire world, which is why such examples of international cooperation are very useful.
