According to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry, the 2012 London Olympics pose a huge security risk.
It was stated at the presentation on security and anti-terrorism measures that London is the first Olympic city that started work on security measures three and half years before the beginning of the event. It was stressed that the Olympic Games will be made safe for both participants and the public.
Construction of the Olympic Village will cost £9 billion and the budget for security will be £600 million. The Olympic Games will be followed by 20,000 reporters’ crews and half a million visitors are expected to attend on a daily basis.
Representatives of the British Ministry of the Interior and other security agencies of the country underlined that the government is preparing an anti-terrorism strategy and that all security structures must be ready for a quick response, it is added in the statement.
