Dacic is taking part in the two day 7th annual ministerial conference on cooperation in border safety in South East Europe, in Tirana. Dacic is representing Serbia at the conference. Serbia hosted the conference last year.
Close cooperation between ministries, prosecutors’ offices and the judicial organs of the countries in the region is required, stressed Dacic.
I am certain that despite political differences we will be able to establish good cooperation to ensure regional security, said Dacic.
The conference, which is being held under the auspices of Spain’s EU presidency, was opened by Albanian Interior Minister Lulzim Basha.
He said that the goal is to have borders everyone can cross, but those borders must be controlled and must not give passage to international crime.
Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha said that the border issue is a great responsibility and obligation to international partners.
He said that organised crime in Albania has been very widespread in the last few years and it has huge economic power, and that the Albanian government is completely dedicated to the fight against this form of crime.
Over 1000 members and leaders of organised criminal groups have been arrested in Albania and this fight is gaining results, he said.
