France fully supports Serbia on its road to EU

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic talked with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner today about the process of Serbia’ s European integration and further steps in this field and about bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The two officials agreed that this cooperation has been improved significantly, but that there is room for further improvement.
Djelic said that the main areas of interest for French investors in Serbia are the construction of the Belgrade metro, Corridor 10, and investments in the field of energy and local infrastructure.
Kouchner said that France fully supports Serbia on its road to the EU and that it will endorse all upcoming initiatives and activities that Serbia takes in this process.
He said that France will support the initiative to make Belgrade the headquarters of the future transport community of south-eastern Europe.
Kouchner praised Serbia’s activities in the preparation of the EU strategy for the Danube region and pointed out that France wishes to be included in this process in the capacity of an observer although not a Danube basin country.
