Speaking at a press conference about the programme and accompanying events of the 32nd international tourism fair, to be held from 24 to 28 February in Belgrade, Petkovic said that the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has paid a great deal of attention to this fair over the past few years.
Petkovic said that this year the fair, at which 850 exhibitors will participate, will be opened by UNWTO General Director Zoltan Somogyi.
The fair is richer in exhibitions and events every year. It is expected to be visited by a large number of business people, as this fair can open up great business opportunities, said Petkovic.
This year a wine fair will also be held for the first time, parallel to the tourism fair. This will be an opportunity for the promotion of wine. A UN programme committee for rural tourism will also hold its gatherings at the fair, he said.
Tourism fair project manager Nikola Andric said that this year the fair will last for five days and leading domestic and foreign tourism organisations, agencies, hotels and resorts will be present.
Visitors who choose to pay for a summer vacation package deal at the fair will be offered a 10% to 20% discount.
Director of the Tourist Organisation of Belgrade Jasna Dimitrijevic said that the tourism fair attracts a lot of visitors to Belgrade and that special sightseeing tours will be arranged for fair participants.
