Speaking at a lecture “Serbia’s Interior Security – Organisation of the System, Challenges and Security Risks” held at the National Defence School, Dacic stressed that the security situation in Kosovo-Metohija is hampered by ethnically motivated violence.
He also stressed the threat of terrorist activities by Albanian terrorists in the Ground Safety Zone in southern Serbia, where hidden weapons were found on several occasions.
The Wahhabi movement, closely linked with Albanian terrorists, poses another threat to Serbia’s security, along with organised crime, trafficking in drugs and human beings and corruption.
Dacic reiterated that the fight against organised crime is among the Interior Ministry’s top priorities, stressing that good police cooperation has been established with the police forces of neighbouring countries in this regard.
He said that the police will take action to counter the harmful activities of various sects but added it is also necessary to raise public awareness about the problem.
Dacic said that the destructive activities of sects and cults pose a threat to general security and stability, adding that various sects may affect children, young people, elderly and lonely people and in some cases students and intellectuals as well.
The First Deputy Prime Minister said that a country cannot be strong without a strong army and police force and that the army and police cannot be strong without the trust of the people.
Dacic said that military and police cooperation is at a high level, stressing that this is very important for the protection of life and property and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.
Speaking about the implementation of the law on the confiscation of illegally obtained assets, Dacic said that he expects that property worth more than €1 billion will be confiscated as a result of various ongoing procedures.
Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac said that the police and army are institutions in which the public places the highest of confidence, adding that there is excellent cooperation between the two.
