Bishop Irinej of Nis has been appointed the new Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) today, the SPC stated.

The bells on the main church in Belgrade today marked the appointment of the 45th Serbian patriarch.
Irinej will be enthroned tomorrow at 9 am in Belgrade's main church, and later in the Patriarchate of Pec.
