Marjanovic said that they will work in embassies and consular missions of Serbia in EU countries, countries in the region, United States, Russia, China and Japan.
She explained that their job will be to work on promoting the economic potential of our country and attempt to attract foreign investors.
Marjanovic expressed the expectation that the economic advisors will start with their work in several months.
Marjanovic said that economic diplomats will be officials of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, but their superior will be the ambassador or consul.
She added that they will receive diplomatic salaries on the basis of an agreement between the proper ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She explained that all relevant information and daily work reports will be forwarded to the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development for better coordination with partners and institutions in Serbia.
Marjanovic said that more than 300 candidates applied and those selected had to pass rigorous tests designed to assess language skills and the knowledge of economics and political sciences.
She stressed that the chosen candidates have previous work experience in various businesses and banks or in the public service.
