During his visit to the village of Marovac in the Ground Safety Zone, Dacic said that members of the Gendarmerie and police force are ready to provide peace and security to all citizens.
He said that the police greatly contributed to the improvement of the security situation by confiscating illegal weapons and by preventing smuggling and other forms of crime.
He said that it is in the vital interest of Serbia to preserve the peace and stability of that area, adding that it is necessary to make investments in infrastructure in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.
Dacic thanked members of the police, Gendarmerie and the Serbian Army, who are also present in the Ground Safety Zone, for their efforts in securing peace and stability for all citizens.
The Minister said that it is necessary to curb the cutting down of forests and other forms of smuggling, especially of excise goods. The Serbian police are cooperating with KFOR and EULEX in these activities.
Dacic wished a Happy Orthodox New Year to members of the police and Gendarmerie, which he will celebrate tonight with members of the Nis Division of the Gendarmerie.
