In an interview for today’s edition of the Press daily Sutanovac voiced his belief that the UAV will further improve the international rating of Serbia’s defence system.
He announced that on January 18 Montenegrin Defence Minister Boro Vucinic will visit Serbia, adding that the flight simulator which Serbia received from Montenegro will then be put in operation.
The Minister noted that Serbia does not have to become a NATO member to be a part of the EU, but added that getting closer to the Union is a natural course of action in Europe.
Sutanovac stressed that Serbia’s NATO entry is not only a political issue, but also an economic one, stressing that the Serbian Army must first make use of all advantages of the Partnership for Peace.
It is true that NATO membership is not a condition for EU accession, but it is also true that if we want to establish a European system of values in Serbia, we have to know that it implies a Euro Atlantic security system, Sutanovac stressed.
He noted that at the moment Serbia is a member of the Partnership for Peace Programme, along with Ireland, Austria, Finland and Sweden, countries that have well developed armies, but are not NATO members, adding that NATO membership is not a necessity for Serbia, as is its membership in Partnership for Peace.
