Fifty Serbian citizens travel to Europe without visas

Fifty Serbian citizens, winners of the "Europe for Everyone" competiton and who have never been to the EU before, have departed for Brussels in the first minutes of December 19 without visas in their passports, and after Brussels, they will also visit Rome, Berlin and Paris.

The citizens are accompanied by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic, whose cabinet organised this trip in cooperation with the European Movement in Serbia.
This project has been supported by the embassies of France, Italy and Germany, as well as the European Commission's programme "Citizens for Citizens", which will cover the travel and accomodation costs of the 50 citizens and 15 reporters.
In Brussels the group will visit the European parliament and the European commission, where they will meet with European parliament vice president Silvana Koch-Mehrin and EU Enlargement Commissioner Ollie Rehn. The transportation was sponsored by Nikola Tesla airport and Jat Airways, and their €200 pocket money by Banca Intesa and Erste Bank. Their travel insurance was covered by Delta Generali insurance company.
This trip will mark the abolishment of visas for Serbian citizens after 18 years of economic sanctions.
