The objective of the Memorandum is to offer support to Serbia in fulfilling the requirements for future EU membership.
This form of support will be implemented through strengthening the institutional and administrative capacities of Serbia for harmonisation with EU standards, the application of required legal regulations, and through environmental programmes such as boosting energy efficiency and use of technologies for environmental protection.
The coordinators of the Memorandum are the Cabinet of the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and the Dutch Foreign Ministry.
The previous Memorandum of Understanding on assistance and cooperation between the Serbian and Dutch governments was signed in Belgrade on August 29, 2007.
