Speaking at a press conference held after the 5th session of the Council headed by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, the Minister said that the action plan determines the specific aims, activities, sources of funding and a time frame for their implementation.
She said that activities connected to the implementation of the action plan will not require additional funding from the budget, adding that a relevant government committee will very soon examine amendments to the law on the prevention of violence and improper behaviour in sport, the misdemeanour law and the penal codes to bring them in to line, in order to make it easier to process individual cases of sports violence.
We concluded at earlier sessions that it is more difficult to process individual cases because of conflicts within these three laws, explained the Minister, adding that the adoption of the amendments will resolve these institutional hurdles.
She said that the Council also adopted a report from the Conference on the Prevention of Violence and Racism in Sport, which was held in October this year, in cooperation with the Council of Europe.
The Minister said that the Council also plays a very important role at the local level outside Belgrade and serious efforts are underway to prevent sports violence, adding that the Council expects to receive clear guidelines from the Council of Europe.
She said that after receiving these guidelines, her Ministry will organise a conference at which 167 mayors and municipal representatives will discuss the problems of violence in sport and overall youth safety in Serbia.
