Interior Ministry, DCAF to improve cooperation

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today that the Ministry wishes to improve its already good cooperation with the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF).

After signing a protocol concerning sending liaison officers to the DCAF office in Ljubljana, Dacic stressed that this is important in order to efficiently fight against crime and corruption and to exchange experiences for faster police reform.
He said that the fight against crime and corruption cannot be successful without regional police cooperation and the Serbian Interior Ministry has worked together with the DCAF on several important projects.
He said that this year the Interior Ministry successfully organised a regional ministerial conference on border security.
He said that the DCAF has opened a regional centre in Slovenia and the Interior Ministry will send its police attaché to the DCAF.
He said that Serbia needs to do a great deal of legislative work and to make intensive efforts regarding Interior Ministry and police reforms.
We will soon need advice and help from other countries, organisations and institutions which have experiences in these matters and have carried out successful projects in this area, said Dacic.
