Petar Skundric
Speaking at a press conference after the session, Skundric said that Serbia's potential for production of energy from renewable sources is equal to 4.3 millions of tons of oil per year.
Of that amount of energy, 63% could be obtained from biomass, 14% from hydro-electricity, 14% from solar energy, 5% from wind and 4% from biothermal sources.
He recalled that the government today adopted the Decree on incentives for electricity production using the renewable energy resources and combined production of electrical and thermal energy, as well as amendments to the Programme of implementation of the Strategy for energy development to 2012.
This Decree guarantees the purchase price for any electricity produced through renewable energy sources.
Skundric said that investments into construction of small hydroelectric power plants should be expected first, for which the government has already issued more than ten permits, and six permits for wind parks.
He voiced hope that the investors will be quick in the realisation of these projects since the permits have an expiry date and can be lost if not used within two years.
