Dacic said that the agreement on police cooperation is of strategic importance for Serbia.
He also explained that the readmission agreement is one of the preconditions for visa liberalisation.
The visa liberalisation issue is not just a question of political willingness, but also an issue discussed by police forces in all EU countries which refers to standards and security guarantees, Dacic said.
The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the agreement does not refer to citizens of Kosovo-Metohija because they are treated in a different manner, as in other documents signed with the EU which rely on UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
When it comes to readmission and negotiations about fulfilling the criteria, Kosovo-Metohija is treated as a territory under UN protection, Dacic said.
Hortefeux noted that the agreement on police cooperation between Serbia and France speaks about the friendly relations between Serbia and France in the moment when Serbia is already moving towards the EU.
It is beneficial for Serbia and Europe, Hortefeux noted, stressing that the French police and gendarmerie are already in Serbia helping the Serbian authorities.
