Decision on removal of visa restrictions expected soon

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said this evening that the decision on the removal of visa restrictions for Serbian citizens is expected either on November 30 or December 1 and that it will come into force on December 19.
In a statement to Tanjug news agency Dacic said that it was concluded at a meeting in Brussels that there are no more issues related to the visa liberalisation process that need to be settled.
Dacic said that at today’s meeting of the Council of European Union’s committee for the West Balkans and the working group for the visa liberalisation process, Serbia’s progress in areas that needed additional work to meet the criteria from the EU’s road map was examined, on the basis of the report by the EU’s expert mission that recently visited Serbia.
Dacic said that it was concluded at the meeting that progress was made in all four areas of key importance for visa liberalisation, adding that the joint conclusion was that all issues have been settled.
He explained that now the committee’s proposals need to be adopted by the European Parliament and soon after that a meeting of the representatives of all EU countries will take place in Brussels.
