Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for EU integration Bozidar Djelic said today in Brussels that Serbia possesses the capability to acquire candidate status soon after the unfreezing of the transitional trade agreement with the EU.
Djelic,
who is visiting Brussels, said in a statement to Deutsche Welle that Serbia has the ability to acquire candidate status within a period of six months to one year, adding that it is up to Serbia to work on ensuring a consensus regarding the unfreezing of the agreement.
He said that the entire West Balkans must move forward so that the business, administrative and political circles, the media and the general public in EU countries do not think of it as an unimportant part of Europe that needs to be integrated into the EU, rather as an area whose inclusion in the EU will complete its enlargement process.
