In an interview to the European Parliament's website, Jeremic said that surveys show that 70% of Serbia's citizens want to enter the EU and added that Serbia might contribute to the peace and stability of the Union.
The Minister said that it is hard to imagine a stable, peaceful and prosperous Europe with a big black hole in the middle and voiced hope that the entire Balkans will join the EU.
Speaking about the Western Balkans’ EU accession, Jeremic said that Croatia is currently closest to that goal.
We intend to keep EU integration separate from the process of establishing Kosovo’s future status, the Minister reiterated, adding that this is the official policy of both Serbia and the EU.
He stressed that the announced visa abolishment for Serbian citizens travelling to the EU will be a great relief, noting that this is important for the generation that grew up in times of isolation, but now have the opportunity to see what Europe has to offer.
Jeremic underlined Serbia’s good relations with Russia, noting that once it joins the EU, Serbia will be a bridge between Moscow and Brussels.
