Agreement on police cooperation between Serbia, Israel signed

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Israeli Minister of Public Security Yitzhak Aharonovitch signed today in Jerusalem an agreement on police cooperation between the two countries.
Dacic, who is visiting Israel, said that the agreement relates to cooperation in combating illegal trade in narcotics, human trafficking and the fight against terrorism and organised crime.
The First Deputy Prime Minister said that the document is very useful, because both Serbia and Israel last year went through very difficult periods, which required strong police forces.
He pointed out that there are a number of areas in which the police of the two countries can establish good cooperation, especially in the fight against terrorism and organised crime, as well as information and telecommunications databases.
Aharonovitch stressed that Israel wants to extend cooperation with Serbia, because organised crime is breaking all boundaries, and expressed interest in exchanges of people for training.
Dacic today met with Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman, who said that Israel will not change its position and will not support the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija.
Lieberman said that political relations between Serbia and Israel are good, but that they should deepen cooperation on economic and cultural levels.
Also today, Police Director Milorad Veljovic visited the Yad Vashem memorial museum, dedicated to victims of the Holocaust.
The Serbian delegation finished its three-day trip by visiting the Israeli parliament, the Knesset.
