Serbia closer to White Schengen list

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Bozidar Djelic said that Serbia is very close to entering the White Schengen List because the technical mission of the European Commission (EC) is satisfied with what it saw in the field concerning the visa liberalisation.
In a statement to Tanjug news agency, Djelic said that the technical mission will prepare their report in a few days and will inform the Serbian government about it on October 23.
The final decision of the Council of Europe as to whether Serbia will be put on the White Schengen list on January 1, 2010, is expected to be made on December 1.
During the meeting, Djelic informed the Head of the European Commission Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert about the big achievement of the Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA), which seized 2.8 tons of cocaine in a coordinated action with the US police.
Serbia works together with the international community on eliminating the biggest narco cartels of the Balkans, which is a very important recommendation both for the White Schengen list and further European integration, Djelic said.
He added that even after entering the White Schengen list Serbia will continue with security, economic and social reforms, which will help Serbia enter the EU soon.
