Krkobabic meets with World Bank delegation

Deputy Prime Minister Jovan Krkobabic today met with a World Bank delegation, led by World Bank Country Director and Regional Coordinator for South East Europe Jane Armitage, to discuss pension system reforms.
According to a statement issued by Minister Krkobabic’s cabinet, the two sides discussed the setting up of a central registration system, as well as a project for controlling the meeting of pension and invalidity insurance obligations, which is being financed by the World Bank.
It was agreed that the realisation of the project has been very successful so far.
Part of the project is the formation of a central registry, consisting of a comprehensive data base of employers and employees, the drafting of which a number of ministries and state institutions are involved in.
The project is worth $25 million and is due to be completed by the end of 2010.
Krkobabic asked for the help of World Bank experts because of the importance and delicacy of these reforms and solutions, so that by next year Serbia could have a legally based, socially just and economically sustainable pension system.
Armitage and Head of the World Bank office in Serbia Simon Grey voiced their readiness to provide their assistance, the statement adds.
