Fu Qian and Miodrag Djidic
The memorandum was signed as part of a recently concluded inter-state agreement between Serbia and China.
State Secretary at the Serbian Finance Ministry Miodrag Djidic said that the China Exim Bank is expected to approve a loan to the Serbian government for purchasing the equipment.
Djidic explained that this is a 15 year loan, with a grace period of five years and a low interest rate, adding that it has been agreed with Nuctech that a regional service centre for scanners will be opened in Belgrade.
Customs Administration Director Predrag Petronijevic stressed that Serbia is the last country in the region to procure that equipment, adding that its use will have a positive effect on the budget and will help prevent the smuggling of goods and people.
The equipment is to arrive in Serbia in the first half of 2010, he added.
Representative of the Nuctech Company Limited Fu Qian stressed that this is a leading device in X-ray control of containers and vehicles and Nuctech the largest supplier of such systems in the world.
The company has so far delivered 400 X-ray systems to 80 countries around the world, he added.
