Mrkonjic told the press that cooperation between the two countries has always been at a high level, particularly when it comes to transport.
The Minister noted that the two sides discussed future joint projects regarding the railway and motorway Corridor 10, as well as other means of transport.
Railway Corridor 10 must be constructed in accordance with European standards, which implies a double-track railway from Subotica to Greece and a speed of 160 km per hour, he said.
It was agreed that Mrkonjic will visit Skopje next month to sign agreements on road transport and railway border control, stressed Minister Janakieski.
He announced that Macedonia will soon abolish road tolls for Serbian trucks.
Janakieski said that they also discussed air transport and noted that Macedonian air-space is free for Serbian airliners.
He said Macedonia is already working on the Tabanovci-Kumanovo road, which will be finished by the year’s end, while the Demir Kapija – Smokvica road will be completed in late 2010 or in early 2011, which is the last section of Corridor 10 to be built through Macedonia.
Head of the sector for road transport and infrastructure at the Macedonian Transport Ministry Stevco Jolakovski, Macedonian Ambassador to Serbia Ljubisa Georgieski and economic advisor at the Macedonian embassy Vladimir Krstevski were also present at the occasion.
