The President of Latvia, the Belgian Minister of Economy, the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and an economics professor from Leiden University, Holland, also took part in the session.
Djelic also met with a number of renowned scientists, including Bruce Alberts, editor in chief of the world’s leading scientific journal Science, who was twice president of the American Academy of Sciences.
At the meeting with Djelic Alberts commended the work of many Serbian researchers, especially scientists working at the Belgrade Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering.
They also talked about cooperation between SANU and the American Academy of Sciences, the new Law on SANU, the inclusion of young Serbian scientists in international academic panels organised by the American Academy of Sciences, as well as about presenting the development of science in Serbia in next year’s issue of the Science journal.
At his meeting with Director of the Oxford University Institute of Nanoscience for Medicine John Ryan, Djelic reached agreement about a visit by Oxford University researchers to Serbia to work on joint medical nanotechnology projects.
