Serbia to host European practical shooting championship next year

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said yesterday that Serbia will host the European Championship in Practical Shooting in September next year.

Speaking at the 4th Open Delta Cup Belgrade 2009 practical shooting tournament, Dacic said that in cooperation with the Interior Ministry and other state organs, Serbia will be well prepared to host the European championship, which will promote the image of our police and our country.
He said that he is pleased with the fact that more than 320 competitors from 27 countries took part in the tournament, adding that a much larger number will arrive next September.
Dacic stressed that members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit and other police units are among the best in the championship at practical shooting, which tests their efficiency and shooting skills in simulations of real life situations.
The three day championship was organised by the Delta practical shooting club. Special Anti-Terrorist Unit Commander Spasoje Vulevic thanked the Interior Ministry and the companies and institutions which helped organise the event.
Current European and world champions also took part in the tournament, which has raised the prestige of the event.
