Nis to become regional logistics centre for emergency situations

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic stated in Nis that around mid-October he will meet with Russian Minister for Emergency Situations Sergei Shoigu to contemplate the idea of Nis becoming the regional centre for emergency situations.

Dacic, who attended the opening of the film festival in Nis, said that the mixed Serbian-Russian committee will meet a few days before Russian President Dmitri Medvedev’s arrival to Belgrade, adding that they will also discuss this initiative.
He said Nis will become a large logistics response centre for emergency situations caused by natural disasters, large-scale fires, floods, earthquakes and similar.
Asked about the situation in southern Serbia, Dacic said that the two parallel processes, namely the security and political ones, must be carried out simultaneously in that region.
Dacic reiterated that the Ministry of the Interior and other security forces will ensure peace for all citizens in southern Serbia, while the political process will help to include Albanians from that region in Serbia’s state structures.
