First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic today stated that the one millionth biometric passport will be issued in a day or two. He also stated the possibility of extending the validity period of old passports.
Dacic stressed that the process of replacing passports is slowest in Serbian consulates abroad, adding that the validity of old passports might be prolonged because of the Serbs in the Diaspora.
He voiced his expectation that by the end of the year there will no longer be any crowds in police stations where passports are issued, noting that the capacity for issuing new passports has been increased 50% since the beginning of the process.
One million passports issued in one year is an extraordinary success, noted Dacic.
