Milosavljevic said this is the most important infrastructure project in the Serbian health system, as well as one of the most important ones in the country.
Modernisation of clinical centres in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Nis will provide around the clock diagnostic and surgery services as well as improved intensive care.
This will improve the quality of the health services, as well as the working conditions for health workers, he said.
The clinical centres are being financed from the €200 million loan provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB), he said.
Project manager Vasilije Antic said that the master plans are complete, which will now be followed by the completion of the design projects and the offering of tenders to international and local constructors.
He said that the clinical centres in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac employ over 14,000 employees, who annually treat 240,000 inpatients as well as approximately 1.7 outpatients, perform 110,000 surgical operations and 270,000 emergency treatments.
