State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Youth and Sport Ivana Kovacevic said today that young people in Serbia are facing the problem of unemployment, adding that 1,500 young people are currently receiving entrepreneurship training with the help of the Ministry.

Speaking at a conference held on International Youth Day, Kovacevic said that the Ministry of Youth and Sport has helped 2,220 young people through the Fund for Young Talent.
She said that some of them have received scholarships for studying in EU countries and are then obliged to return to Serbia to work for a period of five years, while others have been given awards for success in various competitions.
UNDP Resident Representative in Serbia William Infante said that the UNDP will continue to support projects by Serbian youth organisations for fighting against corruption and the promoting democracy.
Speaking about unemployment in Serbia, Infante said that the UNDP wishes to help create new jobs in the area of environmental protection in Serbia.
He added that it is important that young people learn to adapt to the changing job market and to enter fields such as ecology, renewable energy sources and the recycling industry.

The Ministry financed events arranged for the International Youth Day by the Serbian Students Union, the Process Group and the Youth of JAZAS in Belgrade, Kragujevac, Novi Sad and Subotica.
A large number of youth offices across Serbia are celebrating Youth Day by holding workshops, roundtable discussions, performances, fairs and concerts promoting good values and a healthy life style.
