The EU Integration Office, in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Commission to Belgrade and Erste Bank, has announced a competition for the best media coverage of the EU integration process in Serbia.
Director of the EU Integration Office Milica Delevic said that the competition is for reporters in print and electronic media registered in Serbia for work published between January 1 and November 1 this year.
Awards will be given in five categories: best TV coverage, best radio coverage, best newspaper coverage, best coverage in a local media and best report concerning of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Each reporter can only submit one piece of work, she said, adding that the winners will be announced in late November.
Head of the European Commission Delegation to Serbia Josep Lloveras expressed his hope that the reports will focus on Serbia’s progress in achieving EU integration and added that the media represent a bridge between citizens and the political leadership and that their task is to explain what the process means.
Lloveras also said €3.3 million from the EU’s IPA fund will be available to journalists to help with their understanding of the process of integration, training and travel expenses.
