Markovic said at a press conference that 30 students will be admitted to each department in Medvedja and that their education will be financed from the state budget, while the number of self-financing students will be 35.
He said that course books for the students will be translated into Albanian and the course of studies will follow the Nis University curriculum.
Despite some unpleasant incidents the government will continue its active approach when it comes to life in Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac, stressed the Minister, adding that the issue of education for ethnic Albanians has not been adequately resolved due to the events of the past few years.
He said that young people from the area mainly study in Tetovo, Tirana or Pristina.
Markovic said that he hopes that the opening of these new faculties in southern Serbia will contribute to the stability and development of the region, adding that a faculty could be opened in Bujanovac as early as next year.
Tomica Milosavljevic
Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic said that there are now 68 cases of the influenza A (H1N1) virus in Serbia, adding that 40 patients contracted the disease abroad, in countries where cases had already been registered.
He said that patients include six sports people who took part in the Universiade and 26 visitors to the Exit music festival in Novi Sad.
He said that five patients in Novi Sad have been hospitalised, four of whom are Serbian and one British.
Two Canadians of Serbian origin are hospitalised at the Institute for Tropical Diseases in Belgrade while one patient is in the Kragujevac Health Centre, the Minister said, noting that all the patients feel well.
He said that the Serbian Embassy to Egypt will make an official announcement concerning the Serbian tourists who were killed in a traffic accident there today.
For the moment we only have information from the Egyptian authorities, he said, adding that according to unofficial reports, 11 people were killed and six injured.
Milosavljevic said that one of the survivors was immediately operated while three have been hospitalised in Cairo.
He also announced that at today’s session, the Serbian government approved a Report on the implementation of Serbia’s national European integration programme for the period April-June 2009.
The government also adopted a Conclusion to adopt the government work programme for this year, which has been amended in accordance with the new situation, he said.
A Decree on the integrated health information system “e-health” was adopted today, said the Minister noting that the system should be fully integrated by 2015.
